Electrical Questions Answered

Common questions about our electrical services.

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a formal assessment of the condition of electrical installations in a property. Since July 2020, EICRs are a legal requirement for all private rented properties in England. The report must be carried out every 5 years, or at each change of tenancy, and a copy provided to tenants within 28 days.
NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting) is the UK's leading voluntary regulatory body for the electrical contracting industry. Being NICEIC approved means our electricians have been independently assessed and verified as competent to carry out electrical work safely and to the required standards. It also means we can self-certify our work under Part P of the Building Regulations.
A standard consumer unit upgrade typically takes between 4 and 8 hours, depending on the size of your property and the number of circuits. The electricity will need to be turned off for the duration of the work. We issue a Part P building regulations certificate on completion, which is required for insurance purposes and property sales.
Yes, it is possible to have an EV charger installed at a rented property, but you will need your landlord's written consent. As a tenant, you may also be eligible for an OZEV (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) grant towards the cost of installation. Our team can advise you on eligibility and the process of obtaining landlord consent.
A full rewire does require some disruption — floorboards may need to be lifted, wall chases cut, and decorations may need to be refreshed after. For an average 3-bedroom house, a full rewire typically takes 5–7 days. We work methodically to minimise disruption, and will discuss the full scope with you in detail before work commences. Many customers remain in the property throughout, though this depends on individual circumstances.
